In de putcorrosietest volgens norm ASTM G48 wordt een monster ondergedompeld in een FeCl3-oplossing op hoge temperatuur. Een dergelijke test is soms verplicht in een lasprocedurekwalificatie.
Een test volgens ASTM G78 geeft informatie over de weerstand van roestvaststaal tegen spleetcorrosie.
