Dans le test suivant la norme ASTM G48, les échantillons sont immergés dans une solution de FeCl3 à une température élevée. Ce test est parfois obligatoire pour la qualification des procédures de soudage. Le test ASTM G78 vous donne des informations sur la résistance de l'acier inoxydable à la corrosion caverneuse.
